THEIR image is sweet and wholesome but when the world's richest twins arrived at Sydney Airport yesterday they were tired, irritable and flanked by hefty bodyguards.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen shied away from photographers, protected by the bulk of their extensive security team.

Looking thinner than ever and wearing their trademark oversized sunglasses, the billionaire pair fled the airport with their minders.

The 19-year-olds arrived in Sydney ahead of a fashion launch today aimed at Sydney's "tweens". The launch is likely to further boost the twins' substantial fortune, which has been built since they were nine months old and starring in the television series Full House.

Australian parents will need to be ready for wide-eyed appeals for cash from their daughters because the twins are releasing yet another branded fashion range through Big W. The designs, hand-picked by the Olsens, are targeted directly at girls aged from six to 12 years old.

But Ashley was anxious to reassure parents: "We are trying to do something affordable for parents who have kids that are still growing."

In the past year, Mary-Kate has publicly battled an eating disorder and her representatives have now confirmed she is recovering from anorexia.

She told The Sun-Herald that she did not see herself as a role model.

"My sister and I don't look at ourselves as role models - I think that's a huge responsibility," Mary-Kate said."The best we can do is take care of ourselves and experience life."

The launch of the mary-kateandashley range at Luna Park this afternoon is by invitation only.

Ahead of yesterday's arrival , the twins were enthusiastic about visiting Australia. "Oh I'm so excited about it," Ashley told The Sun-Herald.

The twins weren't the only celebrities to hit Sydney yesterday, with actor Harrison Ford and his partner, Calista Flockhart, arriving ahead of tonight's premiere of his new film, Firewall.
